    Question Sum If

I have a workbook that I use 2 sheets on.
On sheet1 in column D in has numbers like 84957400123, 84957400125, 84957400128 but there can also be duplicates in that column.

On the same sheet (sheet1) in column G it has a date (which also can be duplicated down the rows) but in date format like 01-Mar-08.

On sheet2 in column A is the same date format but unique (only enetered once down the rows)

My question is; I want to be able to on sheet2 column F get the unique count of how many times that number is used on sheet1 column D if the dates from sheet1 column G and sheet2 column A match.

I have been trying to figure it out with =SUM(IF(FUNCTION formulas but I am unable to, can someone please help?

    Thanks.

    Hi Darkone,

    Just so I understand you..

Sheet1 Column D has big numbers, some duplicates. Are these stored as numbers or as text?

Sheet1 Column G has dates showing as dd-mmm-yy. Are these actual dates formatted in that way, or is it text?

Sheet2 Column A has those same dates or text.

In Sheet2 Column F you want a count of "that" number if the dates in Sheet1 Column G and Sheet2 Column A match.

Last question: What is "that" number? Is it a number in a cell somewhere?

    Correct and stored as text.

It is formatted as dates; you type in 01/07/08 and it shows 07-Jan-08

Sheet2 Column A has those same dates or text.
It is formatted the same way but they are all unique to show the days worth of data I am trying to get

"That" number is the total count of unique records based on sheet2 column A (days date) to match column G and the counting sheet1 column A's unique numbers (for that day match up)
    Hope this helps explain.
