I want to make a drop down list that will change a formula

Not very familiar with drop down lists in excel but this is what I would like to do...

    1. I want to have one column that lists out the different models that can be used (with descriptive names)

    2. When that drop down list box is changed, it will change a formula that is linked to this cell with the model code

Not sure if it's possible to have several names in a list and have a underlying code that will then be used in the formula.

The reason for this is that I want the user to be able to switch between models easily while not having to worry about each individual model code

    Sound like a vlookup.

    See links for examples

Yeah, I figured I have to do a vlookup. That will get me halfway but I'm having trouble with the drop down list itself. Hopefully you or someone can help

I tried creating a drop down list based off a list on another sheet but Excel won't let me. I don't want the list to exist on the same sheet. I just want a drop down box that will let me choose between what is available.

Figured it out! If I gave the range a Name, I was able to use that name in the validation dialog box. Working exactly how I was hoping it would!
