Transfer information from 1 workbook to another....

    This is what I have;

4 workbooks for each quarter of the year, and one master workbook for the whole year.

Can I have the information that is entered in the quarterly workbooks, automatically go to the annual workbook?

All the workbooks are EXACTLY the same, all information will be entered in the exact same cells, rows, ect.

I can get the information to transfer from Q1 to the annual one just fine, but when I go to Q2 it overwrites all the information on the annual one from Q1.

I am clear enough, or have I confused you as much as me.....

    e.g. in summary sheet

    =SUM('Quarter1:quarter4'!A1) will sum Q1 to Q4 of cell A1

    Thanks for the replies, but.....

I'm not dealing with numbers, it's all text.

All the workbooks are set up exactly the same.

If I enter the code 4100 in cell B12 on one worksheet for Q1, and enter code 4110 in cell B12 for Q2 my master workbook overwrites the information from Q1 with info from Q2.

I want the information I enter in the workbooks for Q2, Q3 and Q4 to go to the next available open cell.

    Is this even possible?

I've search "Linking Workbooks" to page 10 and couldn't find the answer, so any help would be appreciated.

    OK

I think we need to clarify some things.....

Are you talking about separate workbooks or worksheets in the same book?

How many sheets or books are there? My understanding is that there is one for each quarter and a master.

What do you want to achieve?

It would help if you could upload a copy (as a ZIP file) so we can see it.

I can try to explain this.

If you want information from one sheet to another, you have to use a simple formula.

Write = in a cell from the master sheet. Then you have to switch to the sheet you have the information you want. Then press the cell you want and press enter.

If for example the quarter sheet is named Q1 and you want information from cell A1, the formula in the master sheet will look like this:

    ='Q1'!A1

    Hope this will help =)

I've created an easy example here:
