data validatino question

Hi all I use excel 2007
I have 3 cells A1, B1 and C1 I need to validate the entry in cell C1 that If A1 or B1 are emty do not allow an entry and show an error stating that those cells need to have a value. I tried the ISBLANK Funtion but I can seem to make it work.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Hi jguillen,

In C1's Data validation, select Custom and set the formula to

=AND(A1<>"",B1<>"")

Also, un-check the box for 'Ignore Blank', then set your warning message.
