numbered list

not sure which forum to post this in.

I have a work sheet with an alphabetical list of products in one colum and a number in the next column. the number starts from one in the first row and increases by one each time down the row, so each product recieves a number, this number relates to a plan I have drawn out so it is important.

I would like it so that when I want to insert a new product into the alphabetical list the numbered list updates automatically. Is this possible?

Hi,

=row() will give the row number.

If your list starts in row 8, for example then =row()+8
