Formula to turn text different colours

    Hi,

CAn somebody advise of a formula I can use to turn certain text in cells, certain colours.

What I'm aiming to do is when my figures show a loss, I'd like the cell text to show in red (automatically) and when they're showing a profit, I'd lke the colour to be green.

    Thanks.

You can do this using a combination of normal formatting and conditional formatting:

Select the cells showing your profits or losses
Click the 'Format' menu and choose 'Conditional formatting...'
{From the dialog box which appears} Choose 'Cell value is' | 'Less than '| 0
    Click the 'Format...' button
Click the 'Font' tab and set the colour to red. Press OK twice to exit the dialog.
Select all your profits and losses and click the font colour toolbar icon- it's a letter A with a colour underneath. You can set the default colour to green.

This will show positive values in green and negative values in red.
