Adding Filter Buttons to a Pivot Table

I would like to add filter buttons at the top of my pivot table so that I can filter/sort the data fields. A pivot table offers selection buttons on the row and column fields, but not on the data fields. I added the filter buttons and tried the "sort ascending" option and it sorted all of my data fields alphabetically instead of the numbers in ascending numeric order. Is there any way to turn off the sort feature of the filter buttons or get them to actually sort the numbers vertically instead of sorting my data field headings horizontally?

You can have the data fields also as "page" fields (In both)

    Page fields allow for selection.

You can also sort by the field you choose (From the column or row firlds) in the field configuration.

The page field idea is interesting, but it is primative compared to the custom filter functionality through a filter button. The user can only select one option through a page field whereas the user can filter using an inequality expression (greater than/less than) with a cusom filter.

I think the solution is to not use a pivot table format for detailed views of data where exception analysis is important to the use of the data and a non-pivot table with filter buttons offers a better format for the analysis.
