Question Adding Data after Drop Down

    Hi All,

I have made a drop down in excel.
After I select one of the categories from the drop down, I need to add more data to it.
e.g. If I select Fruits_ from drop down, I need to add Apple (manually) after fruits such that it would look like : FRUITS_APPLE.
I should be able to add anything manually after FRUITS_

Whenever I try to do it, it shows me an error that "user has restricted values that can be entered into this cell".

    Please guide me.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for the reply. It worked absolutely fine.
But I am having a second problem, which I should have posted before.

I am trying to select multiple times in the same tab from the drop down menu
e.g. if the drop down contains FRUITS_
then I would want to select FRUITS_apple + FRUITS_mangoes + FRUITS_grapes and so on, in just one tab.

Please help me with the same.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Martin,
You were not wrong before. I was able to add something manually after selecting from drop down.
Infact I apologize for not being very descriptive about what I actually need.

    let me try again.

Imagine I have created a drop down menu in the excel sheet which has:
    FRUITS_
    VEGE_
    NONVEGE_
    DRINKS_

    etc....

Now, I select FRUITS_ from the drop down menu. After selecting FRUITS_, I need to add which fruit, so I add Apple. Hence, it would look like FRUITS_Apple.
Now, Imagine that I need to write a formula, too add some more fruits (which is impossible with the eg I provided, but just imagine).
So I will be FRUITS_Apple + FRUITS_Grapes + FRUITS_banana and so on, in just one cell.
Hence I will manually add the names of the fruits that I need to add in that cell.

I hope this would make some sense.

    Thanks for all yr help
