    Alias Names

    I've created a table in tab 1
    The table has 2 columns
    1 column for SSN
1 column for the persons name of the SSN
I've created a work schedule table in tab 2
I designed the table for 3 shifts and 6 days
I want to be able to enter the SSN in a shift cell and have the Name auto populate in cell next to it.

Accounting uses the SSN but I need to use the name.

Any thoughts on how to accomplish that with excel?

    Thanks

You can create a list of each ssn and its corresponding names in one sheet and then use a vlookup formula to search those ssn and returning its names.

    You´re welcome.

This is one of the reasons why Vlookups rank among the most popular formulas in excel.

it worked so great i tried it in another application
    but
i updated the information in the table and got this
    #N/A
I am using the False parameter for the range lookup because the information is not in the same order

    Any thoughts?vlook.ZIP

#N/A appears whenever the Vlookup doesn´t find the value you are looking for in the specified range.
