Can you use conditional formating to make a blank cell change to a color?
Yes. If you're in 2003, Cell Value - Equal To - "". You will have to go back in and change it to "" after the first time, as it changes to """""".
In 2007, you can use the above or use a formula, like =A1="".
Thanks, works perfect.
unable to understand . How this works ?. When we type =A1="" gives value TRUE when A1 is blank and FALSE when some value entered. No change of color.
conditional formatting changes the cells colour as requested if the value is true. so in this case the conditional formatting is looking to see if a1 is blank and if that answer is true it will change it to whatever colour they have specified. if you use this in the formula bar then it will return the answer "true"
