separate the first and lasts names from one cell into two cells

This is where you introduce yourself? I make lists for my gf's dad's company using excel. One of my most excruciating tasks is to separate the first and lasts names from one cell into two cells. Does anyone know a quicker way to do this other than manually? I have 10,000 names to do and it's going to be hours if I do it by hand. Hello and thanks for readin'.

    ConsumeWaffles,

Welcome to the forum. Your title has being amended to a more searchable excel title. Please take a few minutes to read the forum rules below.

You could use a formula or quickest way would be Data > Text to column > delimiter would be space

    Need help separating names easily

Here is my task: pretend there is one empty cell and the one next to it has a first name and last name inside [the last name can include sr., jr., II(the second), III(the third), etc.] I need a better way to separate the last name and any extension than just using my programmable keyboard. Does anyone know something I could download or something I can do with excel that can do this? I was thinking it would work kind of like the replace tool except move it to an adjacent cell instead of replacing.. you know? Thanks for readin'.

I will read the rules and sorry for any trouble just now. I thought this thread was locked? And I wanted to put it into the generals tab because more people were viewing it.. but oh well. I'll try what you suggest, thanks.

Text to Column almost works.. but some people have middle names.. :p lol.I don't know what to do!

Edit: And some people have a middle name with just a single initial such as "H." with a period. Would a formula do it for me? (And how do you use a formula)? :D

Noob!! Let me say this: text to column DOES work. But pretend this now: there's two columns. Middle names are mixed in with last names in the first column and the second column has only last names where the middle names took their place in the first column. I need a way to move the last names into the middle+last name columns without erasing the real last names in the first columns with blank cells. (Sorry if that's confusing.

Select Col B > right click > Insert > Select Col A then do text to columns.
    Job done

Actually the much easier way I found was to just special paste ==> skip blanks. I feel so stupid, but that's what forums are for. Making the stupid feel stupider to get smarter. It's a vicious cycle.
