    Counting with miltiple criteria.

    I have a question based on counting instances with multiple criteria. I have attached a .gif file to explain. Although this is a simplistic example, here is the question:
    I need a formula to calculate the questions in A3 & A4 for cells A4 through B9. 1 eacmple is "How many people liked apples & were girls?"

    If you have Excel 2007, there's a COUNTIFS function. If not, you can use the SUMPRODUCT Function. For my example below, in B4 and dragged down

    The "--" take what would be true/false statements and converts them to 1 or 0. You can have as many arguments as you want.
