    Highlight Columns??

    (ieHi,

I dont know if this is possible,

But, what i would like to do is thus,

    I have a cell with a figure in, ie, 24.7 (cell B3)

and I have three columns with some figures in, each column indicates a certain percentage, ie, col E (24-30%) col F (31-35%) and col G (36%+)

Depending on what value is defined in cell B3 (ie, 24.7) i want the figuresin the corresponding column (ie, col E) to be highlighted with say a border around the cells which contain the figures in that column.

(additional info: cols E,F,G have data entered into rows 6-40)

What you are looking for is called "Conditional Formating".

Open that xls and change the value in B3 and you will see the values highlighted...

    Hi,

Use conditional formats. Highlight the whole of each column and enter the following in the Format--Conditional Formatting-->Formula Is box

Setting whatever formatting, borders, colours etc. you need.

Hmmm seem to have hit a wall..

I have done what has been suggested above but something doesnt seem to be working proper.

I have attached the sample sheet this this post.

Basically, the period strike rate (set to 24.8 in cell B3) controls which column to apply the conditional format to,

so if the strike rate is between 24-30, all the figures in col E are highlighted in grey, if stike rate is 31-35, col F get highlighted, and anything over 36 highlights col G

As you can see from the attached file, it only does the first value in each column, and something has gone amiss in col G.

I cant figure if this is problem with the conditional format rule or something else.
