    If Command

I have a command working but when I try to grab the sum of a row where these commands are the total doesn't show.

I am using the If command to show a 5 or a 0 when a column is greater than 1.

But when I try to grab a total from all the 5's and 0's it is not seeing them.

How can I grab the sum of all the 5's/0's in a row?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Not really sure what you're trying to achieve, but as your formula returns a text responses as opposed to numeric ones (i.e. anything in quotes tells Excel the result is text) you can't then sum the results. Hopefully removing the quotes (see below) does the trick:

    =IF(SUM(D3:D21)>1,5,0)

Thanks, I had a feeling what I typed didn't come off right.

But what you told me about the quotes around the numbers was the reason it was not working.

    Problem fixed Thanks!
