    Hi all,

I am using excell to record information (complaints calls) the problem i've identified is that when the caller has a lot of information the cell in which that information is typed into only displays up to a word count of around 202 to 204 words then it truncates the rest. The information is still in the cell but I can only see the firts 200 words on the screen when the cell is not selected.

I've formatted the worksheet to Text Wrap and auto size and still and not able to see the entire text on the sheet unless I select that cell.

When I print the sheet it only prints the first 200 words. Any help I could get would be appreciated.

    Daniel.

    Good afternoon DSJ

Unfortunately, this is one of Excel's internal constraints and cannot be circumvented. An Excel cell can be a maximum of 32,767 characters, however only 1,024 can be displayed in the cell. The full 32,767 can be seen in the formula bar.

Hmmm, I'm wondering. Would it be possible to have VBA examine the cell upon entry and cut and paste anything over 1024 into the next column (and then maybe again in the column after that)? Just a thought.

Here's a partial solution using formulas. The original text would be in column A, then B, C and D all take a piece (beginning, middle, end) assuming your entire string won't be over 3072 characters. You can hide column A after it's been written in to avoid confusion.
