Linking an Excel table to an Access table

    Hi,

Is it possible to link an excel table/sheet to a table in ms access? So that when you are adding rows to the table in excel or changing them the table in access is updated with the changes?

I've been looking in a hole lot of places for this inormation but I can't seem to find it. (I know you can do it the other way around but that's not what I need to do.)

I think my problem is that I'm using the wrong search keys or something so I'm not finding information that will help me solve the problem.

I hope someone here maybe knows how to do this or maybe point me in the right direction to obtain this knowledge.

    Regards, Erik

its pretty simple.. jus open up a blank database in access..

click on "new link table" .. open up the excel file.. if multiple sheets in excel.. it will ask you to pik one.. jus follow the wizard and your table is linked to ur access database.. any new columns/rows added in excel now will automatically get updated in access.. hope that helps..

    Hi Manny,

Thanks for your input. Alhough this wasnt exactly what I was looking for.

I was aware that you can create a linked table in access from an excel sheet. But I want to do it the other way around. Update a regular Access table from a sheet in excel. Kinda link the the Access table into excel.

I dont know, maybe I'm making things to hard for myself but I want to keep the access table integrity with primary keys etc.

I've read thru this post which kinda sounds like its the same as I'm trying to do, however I don't understand it and don't know where to start.

    Hi again,

After getting some more help from an excel expert here at my workplace I've gotten some updates regarding my wish to create a link to a table in a databse and do updates from excel. It's apparently not possible.

So the only solution is to link the excel doc into the database. "Linked table" option.
