Help with Excel Formula

Hi all,

I have inherited a formula that contains a sum(if(xxxxx, if(xxxx, xxxx))) and it's enclosed within {} brackets. If I modify the formula in anyway the {} dissaper and the forumla fails to function. Could anyone provide any insight into how to maintain the {} when the formula is modified?

it is probably an array formula that must be confirmed with Ctrl Shift Enter, rather than just Enter.
