    2 workbooks always open

    Good Day Everyone,

I have a problem, When I click on my excel shortcut in the office toolbar book1 opens up which I guess that is what is suppose to happen. However if I click on other excel documents that have been saved on my desktop not only does that document open up but then another instance of excel opens with book1? This happens anytime I try to open just a spreadsheet with a name.

    Any Idea's

    Microsoft Excel 2002 (10.2614.2625)

Thank You for any help!!! Mike

    Hi,

If you go to Window > and look at the list of open documents, you will see something like Book1:1 and Book1:2, close book2 and save the file. When you open it again only one of the books should open.

    Thank You,

However that didn't work either. I'm not sure what is going on. Any other Ideas?

    Thanks Again, Mike

Well thanks again... But again I tried both options I had no check marks on either of my open workbooks, So I went to option 2 and tried the unreg/reg option. That did not work either.

I have attached a screen shot of the task manager right after I have double clicked an excel shortcut on my desktop this one happens to be called "Ziller RF List" As you can see it shows Microsoft Excel-Zillers-RF List then Book1 then again it shows Zillers RF List.

It's like book1 has to open up befor any other spreadsheet will open...Seems Odd.

Have any more ideas what might be going on?

    Thank You, Mike

    Hi,

Can't say I've experienced this problem myself, so can't come up with a solution.

Here's another couple of links offering some advise on startup issues, there may be something there worth trying

Please let me know if you resolve it.

    Super Help...Those were great links...

Thanks so much!!! I found the problem it was an Add In that I was using. after walking through all my add in's I found one of them was causing the problem. Now I guess I need to try and solve the issue with this add in.

At least this problem is solved... Thanks Again, Mike
