Conditional format intermittant problem

hi guys I hope somebody can shed some light on this problem. I am using this formula to fill alternate lines with a colour:
Formula is : Mod(row(),2)=1 then selecting a fill colour

I know this works because I have used it before yet now I can't get it to work so I must be something wrong. I have tried selecting the whole sheet and then inputting the formula and also tried selecting just a range of cells but nothing

Any idea's ?

Should work OK if you start with = i.e.

=Mod(row(),2)=1

I assume you have included the equal sign

=Mod(row(),2)=1

Damn -- so simple !! your right of course I wasn't poutting the equals sign in. I noticed when I returned to the formula box the equals sign had been added by excel so I didn't put it in myself
