Problem opening files from Windows Explorer

Just recently when I try to open an Excel file from Windows Explorer, Excel itself will open, but the file will not. I am running Excel 2000 (old school, I know..) Files open fine from the 'open' function within Excel, though...

Word docs and other apps seem to open fine from Explorer, as well...

Tried googling around, but couldn't find the answer.

ive got 97 and this isnt an option in that but try
going to Excel Options, Advanced tab, and under the general heading:
Uncheck the box that says: Ignore other Applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)

yea, i did find that on google at one point, but i don't think that's an option with 2000 either... or if it is, i'm missing it...

In Excel 2003, it's under Tools > Options > General
