    accounting format

In Excel 2007, when formatting a column as "accounting", the dollar signs don't line up on the screen or the print-out. They used to in my earlier version of Excel. What gives? I'm using the $(English) dollar sign.

If I look at the custom format in Excel 2003, it says:
    _-[$$-409]* # ##0,00_ ;_-[$$-409]* -# ##0,00\ ;_-[$$-409]* "-"??_ ;_-@_
If I remove the * , the dollar sign aligns with the first number, otherwise it aligns with the left cell border.
