    Showing decimal points or not.

    Hi all,

I have a sheet which we fill in to show lengths of pipe in metres.
I have set it up so that when you type in a number you automatically get 'm' after your figure and i set it to show 1 decimal place ie '12.6m'

My problem is if my figure is a round number ie '12.0m' i dont want the '.0' to show, i just want '12m'

Please advise, aim your answers towards an excel beginner.

    Thanks

    Lee

Lee, interesting question... I've asked around as I didn't think you could do this but wanted to be sure and the answer is seemingly you can't.

The very best you could do would be to have a custom format of

    #.# "m"

but 12 would still generate 12.m as opposed to 12m

You could obviously use VBA (Worksheet_Change) event to do this but I suspect this may be overkill ?
