Copying Sheets from other Workbooks w/o referencing
I am having trouble copying a sheet from one workbook to the other. The original sheet is filled with countifs that reference another tab in the original workbook. This same tab is identical in the second workbook. I have tried moving the tab and I have also tried copying the information and pasting the tab but nothing seems to work. The formulas still reference the path of the original workbook, ie: [Excel-Report.xlsm]Sheet1! Is there a way to merge the two workbooks so this tab is in the new one? Is it just a matter of using paste special (something I have also experimented with)?
Thanks for your help...
You can copy the tab into a new workbook, then highlight everything / select all and do a ctrl-H search/replace to find and remove all instances of the reference to the other workbook, leaving just the rest of the reference which should then be pointing to the new workbook...
So from your example, once in the new workbook, you have formulas like [Excel-Report.xlsm]Sheet1! ... if you use ctrl-H to search for the [Excel-Report.xlsm] part, and replace it with nothing (leave the 'replace' field blank), you'll be left with simply a Sheet1! cell reference which will be looking to the current workbook only...
(NB use Look in: 'formulas', not 'values')
