Convert Time to decimel

I am trying to convert a number of hours in format hours:minutes:seconds in to a decimel number. I have found a formula in excel help, but it doesn't work when the total time is over 24 hours.
I am adding up number of hours worked over a week, so totals can be upwards of 48, eg 48:15:00 and for salary purposes i want to convert this to 48.25 hours.
Help appreciated.

multiply the time value by 24 and format to general

if A1 holds 48:15:00 then B1: =A1*24
