How do you return heading back to normal?

My son used excel on my laptop & screwed up the coloumn & row configurations. By default all coloums/ rows start at A1. I dont know what he did because now the row heading begins with the number 1, then 2,3 & so on as you go across the spread sheat. The coloumn on the left is still numbered so thats O.K
When I type in the first coloumn/row is states R1C1,R1C2, R1C3..& so forth as you go across.
How can I change it back to the normal the row headings begining with the letter A.

    Thank you
