    Auto Sum a varying Range

    Good morning, Gurus.

I am trying to auto sum a range of cells, in 3 columns, that varies from sheet to sheet.

I have attached a sample sheet. The columns I am trying to total are columns "E", "F" and "G".

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Have a good one!

Why not placed the totals above the data?
    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

It's not clear, to me at least, exactly what you mean by autosum and why you refer to columns E:G. Can you elaborate and give an example of what result you're expecting for your autosum and which cells its operating with?

Incidentally when I opened the file all of column K contain circular references.

    Regards

    Thanks for the response, guys.

Sorry for the circular references. I must have left those when I removed some sensitive data.

I have re-attached the sheets, showing an example of what I'm hoping to achieve, and removing the circular references.

Roy, you made a good point. The totals don't have to be at the bottom, they could be above the data in Row 5. I didn't think about that as a possibility, I'm just used to showing my totals at the bottom of the data.

I could probably record that, but it would be ugly. Any suggestions on an efficient code to make this work?

    Thanks again, guys.

You don't need code, just use Dynamic named Ranges & the SUM function

Your sample book shows regular use of the SUM, it is not very clear in what way are the columns going to vary?

    Can you clarify ...spellbound

    Hi,

Can't you just do as Roy suggests and just use the standard =SUM(E7:E1000) - or as far as necessary to be absolutely sure of covering your data?

You're right, guys. That sounds like the simplest approach.

Just thought I would add one last alternative, as I find the following very useful especially if you want to keep the totals at the bottom of each column.

    In E55 use:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
    or

Please Login or Register to view this content.
copy across to F55 and G55 as required.

Even when you add additional rows, the formula will not need changing.
