    Keyboard question (shortcut needed)

I have a list from drop down menues. Currently I type in a name or part of a name, in the active cell, and then use the mouse to open the drop down list. If their were a keyboard shortcut to open the list from the active cell that would greatly increase the speed of data entry. I takes almost as much time to take my hand off the keyboard move the mouse and come back to the keyboard as it does to do the rest of the enrty.

Not really a big deal but it would sure save a lot of time.

Not sure if this is what you mean....but
for any dropdown list (Excel, Web, whatever)
    • ALT+DownArrow displays the list items

Is that something you can work with?

Here is a copy of my file. For some reason alt+down arrow shows a different list than if you click on the down arrow for the data validation cell.

In the file, enter a name or part of a name in the active cell then if you use the alt method you get a list of the names above the active cell but if you use the arrow for the cell you get a different (correct) list.

I don't understand what is going on?

    The problem isn't with ALT+DownArrow.
The real problem is that your referenced list of data validation items contains no data.

I see what you are saying. I was hoping I could click on the active cell Enter part of a name and then have the list displayed without using my mousr=e to opoen the list. I will have to enter a lwtter or part of the name click out of the active cell click back in and use the arrow. It may take me a little time to get used to that process but in the long run it will still be faster than using the mouse.

Thank you for your input with this.
