Copy info to null fields in column until find new info then copy that etc

Excel 2000 - I have a worksheet which has data (Name or Date) then hundreds of null or empty cells below it, then new data (Name or date) shows, then many cells, then new data (Name or date) etc.. thru thousands of rows.

I need a formula (It would not let me post thread in that forum??) which will do this for me.. I have been copy / paste but it is taking days.....

I am sure there is a formula which can look in a cell -- if it is not empty copy that data into empty cells below it, until it finds a cell in that same column with different data... and then start copying the new data into the empty cells below the new data until it finds new data -- on and on etc....

    WHY I NEED THIS -
Need the blanks filled with the proper data so I can sort and find similar data . example how many time was a location checked in a week, month etc.

And possibly import the worksheet into ACCESS to do more detailed data counts

    Thanks

If I understand what you want to do ...

    In your example, select A4:C116.

Do Edit > Go To > Special, Blanks

In the formula bar, type =, then push the up arrow key, then hold the Ctrl key and press Enter

Select the original range again, copy, and paste values over itself to remove the formulas. Fix the date formatting.
