Hello,
I would like a formula to keep a specific number of another cell, for example:
With 8251 on A1, i would like a formula to keep only the number 8, so i would like to keep only the thousands of A1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The formula you want is:
=LEFT(A1,1)

Thanks ,
but what if i just want a specific number, for example in the number 15284, only the number 5, since puting =LEFT(A1,2) will give me 15, and not 5 .
Please fully explain your needs including variations like this. Any others?
=LEFT(RIGHT(A1,4),1)
If you only want to pluck out one character....maybe something like this?
This formula returns the 2nd character
If A1 contains: 98765Please Login or Register to view this content.
That formula returns: 8
Does that help?
Both helped me a lot
Thanks !
