    conditional formatting

i am using excel 2007. can you use multiple options within a conditional format without having multiple conditional formatings. i know that you can use "or" within a function string, is it possible within the conditional formatting

You sure can. You first need to select "Formula is" from the drop-down menu, rather than "Cell value is". Then just write the formula. For example:

    =OR(A1>1,A1<10)

Yes you can use OR() function in conditional formatting just like regular formulas.

If you tell us exactly what you want we may be able to help you construct the condition(s)

thanks for the suggestions. i think they will help

    sample.xlsx

this is a time sheet that i have created for work from the hard copy that we keep in the book. i am trying to keep the integrity of the card for the works since that is what they are required to do on the card. we work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. i asked a previous question about figuring sick time and the responses were helpful. what i want to do is be able to figure sick time if not used for the whole 24 hours. sick time maybe represented by SE or SF. When these conditions are present i am trying to make a note in upper corner.
i believe if i get the sick time working properly then i can get the vacation and the hot working.

    For D6, you can use:

    =OR(C7="SE",C7="SF")
