I am looking to create a SUMMARY FILE from a detail file
example -- if I have a file with the following sorted fields :

abe 0 aaa 600 payroll
abe 0 aaa 600 payroll
abe 0 aaa 600 payroll
sue 1 bbb 100 driver
sue 1 bbb 100 driver
tom 2 ccc 200 cleaner
tom 2 ccc 200 cleaner
tom 2 ccc 200 cleaner

how can i create a file with 1 record per grouping .. example
abe 0 aaa 600
sue 1 bbb 100
tom 2 ccc 200

now the real file I wish to do this with has 12 fields ....
is there a way to possibly do this in excel ??
