    AUTOFILTER with protect sheet

I have 6 columns that have data and the final column requires further data to be keyed, all these columns have autofilter enabled. The first 6 columns data is important so I lock and protect these 6 columns.. However, upon protecting the sheets, I cannot filter the data in any column and dont know why. What am I doing wrong.

As you're using Excel 2003 you can still use autofilter after protecting the sheet.
When you go to Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet, scroll down through the options and make sure that Use Autofilter is ticked.

Edit : Just for those using XL2000 or prior, a solution to the autofilter protection problem can be found here.
