negative log of one value vs. negative log of another. Please explain!

I have excel 2007. I've never used it, and I have no idea how to get a graph up. I need to graph -log[97.01] vs -log[0.0364], among many others, but if someone could walk me through step by step of this frst one, of how to plot the graph, and how to find the slope, it would be very much appreciated!

I am a little confused by your question.

    I need to graph -log[97.01] vs -log[0.0364]
Maybe I don't understand your notation but this looks like two values to me. I am reading -log[97.01] as "the negative of the log to the base 10 of 97.01." That is a single value that evaluates to -1.98681650458554. If you plot one single value vs. another single value you get a single point (slope for a point is undefined).

To plot a graph, you need to have a function, then define a set of x to evaluate that function for. For example, -log(x). Then you can create a series of x values, and determine the corresponding y values by using =-LOG(A2) where A2 is the cell containing the x value. From there you can plot the points.

Either I am misunderstanding your question, or you are misunderstanding your homework assignment
