Calculating the distance round an arc

    Hi Guys,

Not sure I have worded the title correctly

I am looking to calculate the distance around an arc, given A-B = 70
    and the depth is 70cm

    Thanks

To accurately determine the length of an arc you really need the radius of the circle it is taken from.

However, it can be estimated like this

    =SQRT(A1^2+16/3*A2^2)

where A1 and A2 are the straight line AB and the ARC AB
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

Hi, Presumably the shape is an ellipse or parabola, as with those dimensions its hard to see how it could be an arc of a circle !!

    Hi Guys

Not really an arc or Para whatever.

These are made out of material and have to have a trim round the edge, looking for a way to calculate before the application of the trim

    Thanks anyway

    =sqrt( sumsq( c21-c37, b28-e23)) ~ 170.4

    Hi Shg

    Thanks for that, have you looked at the 2nd sheet I posted;
I am looking to find the value of a side given all the other sides have sizes attached to them

    cheers

That was from the second sheet you posted -- it's the length of the chamfer.
