excel to enter text data automatically.

Hi,

I would like to know how to have excel enter text data automatically.

Here is my problem. I have Column A with numerical data. And I want excel to determine if the number is a certain number in cell A2 to enter certain text in cell b2.

For example: If A2 = 2042 then in B2 enter "INTW" or
If A2= 2043 then in B2 enter "INTV" or
If A2=2060 then in B2 enter "TCSW"


Is there a way to do this?

I tried to do search but I am not exactly sure of what I am looking for or if it is at all possible.

How big is the list of possibilities?

If small (less than 5), then can be done within a single formula, otherwise you need to create a table on the side somewhere and use a Vlookup() function:

e.g. =Vlookup(A2,X:Y,2,0) where X:Y contains table of lookup values and corresponding codes to return.
