Inserting an INDEX,MATCH function into a HYPERLINK function instead of cell reference

Another interesting dilemma to solve.

Using this formula:

I need to replace D4 with something along the lines of:

Please Login or Register  to view this content.

I am making this much harder than needed as a lot of the information in the cells are not entered directly into the cell, but functions referencing other worksheets. Any ideas on how to go about this? I am sort of familiar with the INDEX&MATCH functions but wasn't sure how to insert it into the HYPERLINK function.

If the second formula returns the exact value you want, you can insert it (minus the = at the beginning) into the first formula in place of each of the D4 references. Do it one at a time to make sure your formula keeps working.

Sometimes, not always, you also need to put parenthesis around the inserted function to make sure it gets treated as a single event.


I count 3 D4 references...that's going to be a monstrously long formula. Sure you want to do that?

I don't mind but it was looking pretty ugly, so I kept it short by taking the vendor item # that D4 references, and made another worksheet (functions) that contains all of my functions, and then just changed D4 to AJ4 as AJ4 links to the INDEX&MATCH function on the other worksheet.

Thanks for your input. Your suggestion worked though. I'm starting to get the hang of the function within functions referencing other functions and so on. haha.

But as I move forward I am starting to think of easier ways of working this out and keeping my functions short. Thanks again for all your help and advice.
