"t" key is not working!

Bizarre problem here. I cannot get a lower case "t" to show up in Excel. When I press the "t" key, nothing happens. However, when I try it for a capital "t" it works fine. I have tried in Word and it works there for both capital and lower case. This is so frustrating. Can anyone help??

Does it only happen when typing into a cell or if you click in a cell and type in the formula bar will it let you type a lower case 't' ?

Does it do it in a blank new workbook?

My laptop will sometimes substitute quotation marks for apostrophes, I usually just have to quit Excel and reopen. That usually solves my problem, you may need to restart your computer.
