Date = ? Format Background Colour

I have a worksheet (2009)that has the days of the year in a column. In another worksheet (colours) I have the days of the year again, in the cell next to each date that cell has a background colour.

Is it possible using vlookup to look up the colour on the colours worksheet and apply that colour to the date background in the 2009 worksheet?

Worksheet 2009 date in cell R4 lookup date in colours worksheet, find same date then apply background colour found to cell R4 in worksheet 2009

I want to use this on several worksheets that have different date ranges in the same workbook, would save a lot of formating if this is possible.

    Thanks solti

    Hi Solti,

Sorry to say, worksheet functions cannot be used to change cell formatting. This would require a VBA macro, which can be triggered manually (via command button, for example) or automatically using worksheet_change or selection_change events (amongst others).
