    filter a dataset and paste

I am having trouble filtering a large dataset and pasting a portion in another sheet in 2007. After filter is on I select a portion of the data including the header row (full columns selected, but not all columns) , and paste this selection into a set place in a new workbook (a few columns in). I keep getting the full dataset pasted as if without the filter on. Any ideas??

The old excel did not give me any problems with this but I am not as familiar with Excel 2007.

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Hello sr23,

welcome to the forum. I don't know about 2007 (not in front of it right now), but in 2010 only the filtered rows are pasted.

To make sure you copy only the visible rows, select the filtered table, then hit F5, click Special and select "Visible cells only" and OK. Then copy and paste.

    Does that work for you?

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply - that seems to work. I am recording a macro to auto cut and paste so will give it a go in the macro now.
