move data between sheets by specifing certain criteria

I am new to the post so far I love it. I am in need of a formula to help with an order book that I created in excel. In first sheet in colum A is the item number, in B is the Description, in C is the count, in D is the selling unit PK or Ea, and in E is the class code. I have sheets for every class code. I need to be able to pull information form the sheet one that matches the class code in colum E and only the items and info for a certain class code and post it to another sheet that has all the headings and formatting that I need. I need all the rows that have the same class code to be pulled excatly the way it is in sheet one. I thought I might be able to do this with vlookup or dget but can't seem to figure it out. I hope I haven;t confused anyone. If you need more info or the data I can get it to you. Any help with be greatly appreciative. Now i am copying and pasting the data that I need but this is very time consuming.

    Much better, thank you.

Chances are VLOOKUP will do what you need. Post a workbook and explain in context.

I have one: You could explain what data goes in what columns, if it replaces existing data or goes at the bottom of data that's already there, ....

In short, imagine we know nothing about what you want (we don't) and you take it from there. No one wants to play 20 Questions to find out.

Re: move data between sheets by specifing certain criteria

Sorry I will try again. In the worksheet I have 4 sheets in the 1st sheet called sheet1. In that sheet I have 5 colums all the data is different except the last colum "E" it changes but some of the data is the same. I would like to be able to go to another sheet and copy the data from sheet one in the new shett ony of it matches the criteria in colum"E" for example I would wnat to pull all the data that has an 1 in colum "E". By the way the data in the row that coresponds to Colum E need to be the same. For example in A1, B1, C1, and D1 I need all that data transfered to A1, B1, C1, and D1 of the new sheet if colum E is 1. Hope this helps please leet me know. Thanks

    stimy2001,

Like the previous post from Shg. You are not really telling what you need. When I looked at you workbook for sheet Code1 I see several columns A thru Q, and yet you said you need columns A thur D from Sheet1 to columns A thru D in code1 for the value of 1 in column E of sheet1.
    Charles

There are other ways to do this, this is but 1 !

Re: move data between sheets by specifing certain criteria

First of all the data in colum e is the class that the product is in. I need to be able to pull the item#, Description, and so on. so that in the sheet titled class code 1 will be the items in class code 1 that corresponds to colum E. The reason I need this is the master orderbook is in sheet 1 and it is constantly changing and I need to be able to seperate the different class codes in E to different sheets. In other words I need to be able to copy and past A through D if E has a one in it to another sheet labeled class code 1. And the same for E if it has a 2 to another sheet labed class code 2. I am sorry that this is confusing it is hard for me to explain something like this without showing it face to face. I would be a terrible teacher. LOL. I hope someone can help me.

Re: move data between sheets by specifing certain criteria

    See attached:

I entered the code in F1 of each sheet for reference.

I entered a formula to count number of matches to the code in H1, again for referencing:

    =COUNTIF(Sheet1!E:E,$F$1)

Formula in A3 of each sheet:

Please Login or Register to view this content.

    confirmed with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER
and not just ENTER and then copied across 4 columns and down to row 100...

You can change the ranges in the above formula to suit the quantity of data you actually have..you will need to re-confirm the formula with the CSE keys to get the { } brackets to appear and then copy across and down as far as you require.
