    Self populating cells

    Hello,

My apologies if i'am posting in the wrong place but not being an excel guru wasn't sure where to start.

At work we have to fill in a weekly report and in that report from a drop down list we have to select the store, the area and the region of the staff members we have trained. It would make more sense if we could just select the store and then have the area and region cells self populate.

Is this possible and if so how.

As i mentioned above i'm no excel guru so a step by step guide would be appreciated.

    Im using excel 2002

    Thanks in advance

This is done with a simple LOOKUP formula. You can use LOOKUP, VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH to do this. INDEX/MATCH is my preferred formula since it can do everything the other formulas can do, and more, so I only have to work with one function most of the time.

Here's a link to a more detailed explanation I've posted prior.
