CountIf - calculate how many times the name has been listed

Hi, I'm having problems with something that should be a simple task.
I have a column of names and I need to calculate how many times the name has been listed (not find and remove or anything like that). Right now my sheet looks something like this:

    James James 1
    Bob Bob 1
    Terry
    Terry
    Steve
    Terry
    Steve
    Steve
    Chris
    Terry Terry 4
    Chris
    Mary Mary 1
    Arnold Arnold 1
    Steve
    Chris Chris 3
    Steve Steve 5

    Using the formula:
    =IF(COUNTIF(A1:$A$2,A1)=COUNTIF(A:A,A1),A1&" "&COUNTIF(A:A,A1)," ")

This is almost perfect except that I only want the name listed in the second column if it is listed 2 or more times. Most of the time in my actual spreadsheet a person will only be listed once. So because of that, I really need to highlight the people who are in the list 2 or more times.

Also, I'd like to use conditional formatting to colour the cell with the Name and # of times it was listed. This is sort of a secondary problem though and I'm not AS concerned about it.

I've looked through the forum and have found similar problems and have pieced together what I have but just need to figure out this last part.

Thanks, hope you are able to help!
