    Checking against a list

    Hi

I'm quite new to excel so I am sure this is quite easy but just not for me!!

If you open up the attached file I basically need the user of the spreadsheet to enter a postcode in cell D3 on the sheet 'Match'. I need the formula to then look at the 2nd sheet 'Postcodes' which has a list of postcodes already entered into it. If it is in the list cell D6 on 'Match' will display Yes but if it is not on the list it will display No. Any ideas??

Thanks for taking the time to read this

    Re: Checking against a list

    =IF(ISNUMBER(MATCH(D3,Postcodes!A:A,0)),"yes","no")
    or shorter
    =IF(COUNTIF(Postcodes!A:A,D3),"yes","no")
