How to Disable Formula Information Pulling Check?

    Hi Everyone,

I currently have a range of formulas that pull information in from other sheets [e.g. ='c:\filepath\user\file.xls]Tab 1'!G19] and I want to do a global find and replace (find "Tab 1" and replace with "Tab 2"). Unfortunately, when I do this replace it locks up my excel for about 45 minutes, because every time it replaces the original item, it does a search and check into the linked file to see if the path exists.

Is there anyway to turn off this checking? I know the formulas are right so I rather not have a 45 minute wait time to access my excel. Thanks!

Maybe do a find and replace = with '=
That will disable your formulas and you can perform your second search without going through links. Does that work for you?
    Then replace '= with =

    Hi ChemistB,

Thanks for the suggestion, but when I go to replace '= with = it does the same formula checking again, which defeats the entire purpose of find and replace. Anyone else have other ideas?

Use the Show Formulas button in Excel under Formulas tab to view all the formulas used in the sheet then use find/replace
    or
hold down the CONTROL key on the keyboard and press the grave accent key ( ` ).
This key is located next to the number 1 key on the top left corner of the keyboard and looks like a backwards apostrophe.

The show formulas function "cntrl+`" does not stop the formula checking from happening. Any other thoughts?
