Unhappy can't find were to set excel security warning

    Hi all
Made a client contact list and made matching client information folders, then I hyperlinked them together, works quite well but everytime I hit the hyperlink I get this message:Microsoft security message do you want to proceed. Then it has the option yes or no.Ive checked all over the place and can't find where to turn this setting off or to let excel 2007 know that the address the hyperlink is set to is safe and not to inform me everytime I hit the hyperlink.
Hope I explained it correctly the computer is at work and I did this from memory. Thanks Chista.
Hi again guys and gals: 5/15/2009
Well I found a way to remove the pesky security warning pop up.
If anybody is having the same issue you can try this but make sure you read all the steps before you continue. Later Chista!

Hello Chista, perhaps following this path:

Click the Office icon -> Excel Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings

I haven't tested this myself, but you can try two things:
    1. Add the folders in question to the trusted locations list (using the 'Add new location' button)
    2. Check the box for 'Allow trusted locations on my network'

I don't know for sure what each will do for you, but it seems logical.

Re: can't find were to set excel security warning

I've encountered this problem, too, with hyperlinks to files - whether or not the warning shows up seems to depend on the file type. A .txt file doesn't cause the warning, a .wma or a .wav does.

Setting the Trusted Locations has no impact on whether or not the warning shows up (at least on my PC), but I did find a web page that seems to address the issue - but calls for editing the registry to fix the problem. That's probably OK if you don't want to be annoyed by the warning, but impractical if you are trying to keep it from bothering users of your workbook...

    The link is:
    http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00406.htm

which contains links to other (untested by me) sites that either do the registry changes or discuss how to do them.

    James
