    sort by clicking the column header OR create a drop-down to sort?

    Hi guys,

    I am looking to be able to sort data in a table. Rather than highlighting all of the data > sort, it would be great to be able to click the header cell and sort by that row by clicking. Similar to html pages that list data and allow you to sort by size/name/author/artist etc. simply by clicking the title.

    If this is too difficult or not possible, it would also be cool to be able to add those titles to a drop down list within the worksheet and filter by selecting from the drop down.

    Either possible? Answer to one or both would be great!

    I have attached a sample workbook.

    Thanks!!

    That's the DATA > Autofilter function. Turn that on, then click on any heading and select Descending on that column.

    Re: sort by clicking the column header OR create a drop-down to sort?

    Thanks man, but I'm not seeing this option. I have Office 2007.

    Do users have to go through this process? I am hoping to have it so users can tell the headers are clickable, and click to sort. I understand there is a way to have drop downs for each header and this gives users a bunch of options to sort, but is there a way to statically sort ascending with 1 click, similar to sorting long lists of data returned from HTML searches (ie download.com sort by rating/size/date/etc)

    Alternatively, do you know how to add the headers to a drop-down, and have a cell that says "Sort by" next to the drop down, and selecting the header sorts the respective data under it?

    Thx JB!

    Look, it's here:

    untitled.JPG

    Data -> Filter

    and you'll get little drop down menus in row where it put filters (small red circles) where you can see lot of good stuff including sort Largest to smallest and smallest to largest
