    Can't unshare workbook

If I go to Tools > Share Workbook and untick the box to STOP sharing it.

I get the confirmation message and Yes to continue unsharing it.

    However, the workbook remains [Shared].

I am doing this on the same machine which I used to make the workbook shared in the first place. Same version of Excel.

If I go to Tools > Protection, the only option is "Protect Shared Workbook" ... so it is NOT already protected. I've tried protecting, unprotecting and then unsharing with no luck.

    Anyone got any ideas?

It's driving me mad and by turning ON the sharing, I've broken the VBA code which runs in the background. :-(

    Re: Can't unshare workbook

Edit: I've cracked it - in unorthadox fashion!!

I saved the troublesome file as an MS Office 2007 Macro Enabled document .xlsm from Office 2003 using the compatibility pack.

I then opened the .xlsm file, selected all of the worksheets, right-clicked and copied to a New Workbook.
This carried over all the VBA on those worksheets.

I then exported the Modules from the .xlsm file and imported them in my newly saved Excel 2003 .xls file.
Finally copied all VBA from the ThisWorkbook part of the VBA project over to the .xls file.

Long workaround but has saved my bacon! :-D

Hope this helps someone one day.

NEVER again will I turn on Shared Workbook!
