Sum only data in cells corresponding to same month

Hi,
I have a workbook containing several worksheets.

Each worksheet is a table of data covering one working week.

For each new day, the date is entered (for the first entry only) in the first column.

I have summed the data by week and produced various tables and graphs for this.

However, now I have been told I need to represent the data by month. Is there a way that I can construct a table based on month - ie for each month the formula possibly looks at data corresponding to cells below the first $$/05/$$ or something..?

I think u should use MONTH() function

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

Hi - thanks for your reply - I have been trying to respond with an attachment but keep getting a "page not found error" - the attachment is not too big

Try zipping/compressing the file first or delete some of the data, keeping only what will be necessary for us to follow your logic.

Re: the workbook I attached in the last post.

In the sheets whose name starts "WC..." the data is broken up by day. This is represented by the date in the first column adjacent to the data for the first record on that day.

What I'd like is to be able to Count all the instances of certain words in certain columns for a particular month - regardless of spreadsheet.
And I'd have this data in a table on a new spreadsheet.

Anyone?
