    Multiple "if" formula

    Hi,
I am trying to create an if statement in column A that looks at column E for many thousands of rows and I am trying to whittle down many selections into two categories. For example my two categories would be "center institutional capabilities" & "center programatic capabilities", and I need the formula to look to the corresponding row in column e and if it finds ABC, DEF, GHI, or JKL then return a "center institutional capabilities" but if it finds RST, UVX, or WYZ then return "center programatic capabilities" and otherwise leave it blank. I keep screwing something up so I am looking to the experts for help. Using (just learning ) office 2007 if that makes a difference

    Thanks,

    Chris
