IF Formulas

Is there a way to get the "then" part of the if formula to be another formula? I have the following formula which isn't working.

=if(and(h10<>0,I10<>0),=index(JointTable2008,Match(h10,Spouse1,0),Match(I10,Spouse2,0)),"Single")

Basically, I'm wanting the index formula to run if h10 and i10 are not 0. Right now I have "Single" as my "else", but I would like to put a formula in that spot too.
